I shared our rainbow baby story live on Facebook this morning -Scroll down to jump straight to the video...
This morning I put on my big girl pants and did a Facebook live focussed on my rainbow baby story. I always find Facebook lives scary anyway. But now I have been doing them every Tuesday morning I am beginning to love them a little bit more. But telling such a personal story to the camera, well never in a million years did I think I could do that. I even woke up this morning and thought to myself what the hell am I doing this for!!
But today I did it and I didn't cry!
"Why did you put yourself through that?" I hear some of you ask. Well the truth is baby loss is so common yet, it was not something I knew about until it affected me. I found out about it when I had a miscarriage with my first pregnancy. And I personally think that needs to change.
I have felt comfort in finding I / we were not alone in our experience and it would have helped me so much more at the time to feel a connection with others that have been through the same.
I've always wanted Ruby and the Rainbow to be a brand that stands for something, that makes a world a better place and so here we are doing our bit to raise awareness of baby loss and make others feel a little bit better about it all. And if my story means that just one person feels a little less alone on their path to find their rainbow then it was totally worth it! So here it is...
